I don't believe I just did that.

Student: "Do you have a Marker I can borrow"
(Students have a habit of forgetting to return such items)

Me: "No, I don't think I do" (Unlocks desk and rummages) "This is the closest I've got" (Hands student a staedler OHP pen)

Student: "Thank you - oh, can I borrow that ruler as well?" (Smiles sweetly)

Me: (Hands over ruler) "They'd better come back or your (computer) account is *so* toast" (Also smiles)(Leaves to make coffee)

When I return a few minutes later, the ruler and pen are on my desk waiting for me, oddly enough.


I really *have* to stop taking help-desk queries before I've had my first coffee of the day. Really.
